The School Day

The school day starts at 8.55am and finishes at 3.15pm for both Infants and Juniors.

All Nursery children attend morning sessions which run 9am-12pm. Some children stay using our fee paying service for the afternoon sessions which run through to 3.15pm.

In the morning children of junior age enter school in to their classrooms any time after 8:45am. The morning bell is rung at 8.55am for the children in reception and key stage 1 to line up in playground in their classes. Doors will open at 8.45am in bad weather for all children to go straight into school.

Teaching staff are on duty from 8.45am to 3.40pm with a lunch break in the middle of the day. Support staff have individual timetables.

Assemblies are an important part of school life as they bring the community together. We use assemblies to share the school values, community news, raise awareness of issues at local, national and international levels. They are a way of cementing the Mellor family together and whilst we are a non-denominational school we do hold assemblies with a Christian theme and share the religious beliefs of other faiths.

Friday assembly is our ‘celebration assembly’.  If a child wishes to share a trophy, medal, certificate or special event with us, parents are very welcome to join the celebration. This aspect of our work not only gives a better understanding of our children, it also gives the children a chance to speak in front of a large audience.

Headteacher awards are presented on a fortnightly basis to children who have excelled in some way. We celebrate their personal achievements and invite parents to join us for the special moment.
