Safeguarding and the digital world

As part of our work on safeguarding and anti-bullying, we aim to help our children to understand the importance of being safe when using different communication technology such as the internet, Xbox online and social media networks.

We look at how to keep ourselves safe in the digital world and would strongly recommend that parents spend time viewing www.thinkuknow.co.uk. This website provides excellent advice and activities for parents and children to work on together. In addition we recommend that you look at http://www.theparentzone.co.uk/ for further information.

The Child Exploitation and Online Protection team  (CEOP) is an ever increasingly important part of this work.  In assemblies we flag up CEOP. The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre is the organisation to report any suspected online criminal behaviour in order to safeguard children and families. Use this link to visit the page or report abuse http://ceop.police.uk/

The Family Online Safety Institute also produced FOSI – Go Figure 3 which gives an insight to the rapidly changing world of technology which our children are part of (it is already out of date).
